The team was thrilled to travel back up north this weekend for our second regular season race weekend. Sadly, technical limitations at Crystal mountain prevented the slalom and giant slalom races from happening this weekend, but the team appreciated an opportunity to bond in our rented airbnb in Frankfurt, MI!
We arrived on Friday, bonding as a team and playing games together. On Saturday, many racers opted to spend their newfound spare time completing homework, like the studious little racers that they are. Others went to Crystal to free ski and prepare for future races, some even competing in Nastar. Everyone returned to the cabin for a lunch of walking tacos, kindly donated by the Kalajian family. The afternoon was spent doing a variety of activities, including exploring the beautiful Lake Michigan lakeshore and hunting for Petoskey stones right outside of the cabin.
In the evening, some racers drove back to Crystal Mountain to ice skate and play a friendly game of hockey. For dinner, the team enjoyed pasta and sliders at the cabin from the Smith family–that being the generous parents of Garrett Smith. Who knew Smith was such a popular last name!
The team anticipates returning to Crystal Mountain this weekend and getting the opportunity to make up for our missed race from weekend two in addition to completing the regularly scheduled races for weekend three. We appreciate all of the family support we had in donating our snacks and meals. As always, Go Blue!
