What an exciting weekend back at Crystal! After traveling up on Friday evening, the team enjoyed some bonding time in the beautiful Frankfort, MI at our spacious AirBnB.
Due to mechanical issues with the Crystal Clipper, our Saturday race was postponed and instead we enjoyed a slow morning with bagels and plenty of coffee. Many racers spent time working on homework and catching up on studying, while some opted to enjoy nature walks along the beach. Others visited Crystal to free ski and spend some bonding time together. The team sat down for dinner together, tucking away on pizzas from a local Frankfort restaurant!
We were up early for races on Sunday morning, and with 3 races crammed into one day, our racers had a long, but successful day. We started the day with slalom, where the girls Marie, Ashley, and Becca took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in their first race and the team continued to show success with Marie in 3rd, Ashley in 5th, and Sydney in 8th in their second race. The boys also impressed with Benny in 1st, Alex in 2nd and Leo in 4th in their first race. They continued to shine with Leo taking 2nd, Benny in 3rd, Jake in 4th, and Colton in 6th in their second slalom race. The racers took a break before GS and gathered for a delicious lunch generously provided by the Smith family (aka the Garrett Smith family)! Refueled and ready to shine, our boys swept 1st-7th with Leo, Alex, Benny, Will, Calum, Jake, and Ryan showing off their skills. Our girls also came back ready to race with Marie taking 1st, Ashley in 2nd, and Sydney in 6th. Our star snowboarder, Stella, crushed it with top 10 finishes in all 4 of her races!
We are excited to be back next Friday and to be joined by many of our incredible parents (we wouldn’t be able to do this without you all <3) and can’t wait for lots more racing! As always, Go Blue!
