With the blessing of sunshine and podium finishes, weekend three is in the wraps! Taking advantage of the near perfect snow conditions and high 30’s weather, your beloved Michigan Snow Wolverines came out with historic results (more on that in the Sunday section).
On Saturday, Women’s Slalom AGAIN came out and took first place, with the top two placements secured by our very own Anna Grzelak and Marrie Morris! Men’s Slalom snagged second, with a fourth and fifth place finish from Benjamin Aulicino and Will Hallas. On the snowboarding side of things, Stella Gaydek came out with a second place finish! After a quick and dominant day on the mountain, the Wolverines headed back to our weekend den (cozy AirBnB) for some much needed hibernation (naps, homework, basketball game watching, and comradery were all in order). We enjoyed some delicious burgers and hotdogs upon arrival, all as a wonderful teaser to our great Polish feast! Later in the night, we were graced by the presence of yummy kielbasa and sauerkraut, along with the much anticipated, critically acclaimed Gaydek pierogies! I heard Chip Peterson ate at least 12, but who knows what’s a rumor these days…
After a night of fun and carb-loading, morning approaches, and it’s time to hit the slopes. Sunday’s GS courses were a competition of courage, with straight and long sets letting racers fly down the hill in under 17 seconds. Our women’s GS team didn’t shy away from the challenge though, and claimed ALL TOP FIVE placements! These top five slots were taken by Anna Grzelak, Lauren Carlson, Marrie Morris, Kristen Gresla, and Ashley Binnette. Mens GS again scored second place, with a fourth place finish by Benjamin Aulicino, and sixth and seventh place finishes from Elliott Lavigne and Calum Schultz. With weekend three ending in great results, it was time to head back south to beautiful Ann Arbor. This week, we’re doing what we can to get ahead in our classes and other activities so we can be ready to welcome the parents to the upcoming Parent’s Weekend! We are so excited to end the season with all of you!
