2024: Regionals

By Sarah Burg

Welcome to the last weekend recap of the 2024 ski season. This weekend some of us had the chance to go to regionals at Marquette Mountain in the upper peninsula of Michigan! Despite some car troubles, we had a wonderful time with an exciting announcement at the end of this blog, so stay tuned.

We woke up for an early Saturday start to Marquette for the final slalom race of the season. After locking in for the day, Anna Grezlak was able to snag a 5th place finish with the women's team getting 3rd place overall and our boys team with an overall 6th place finish. Our one and only snowboarder, Stella Gaydek grabbed a 5th place finish. We headed back to our airbnb for some well deserved resting and homework time.

After another early morning, we headed back to the hill to embark on the final GS race of the year (I’m not crying, you are.) Anna Grezlak snagged a second 5th place finish with Lauren Carlson and Marie Morris close behind in 8th and 9th place, respectively, winning the women’s team a 3rd place finish. Our boy’s team was able to get a team placement of 9th place.

Alright, you have read deep enough in for the major announcement. OUR WOMEN’S TEAM WAS ABLE TO QUALIFY FOR NATIONALS IN LAKE PLACID, NEW YORK!!!!! We are so excited for this wonderful opportunity and are looking forward to competing.

After the awards ceremony at Marquette, the team quickly departed home on our 6 hour drive back to Ann Arbor. Some of us were able to see a beautiful sunset on the Mackinac Bridge, and had the most fun in our final car ride of the 2024 season.

One final thank you to all of our wonderful parents who made this season possible, we love you all so much and cannot wait to see you next year, and maybe a few graduating seniors will come visit. As always, go blue!
