2022: WEEKEND THREE

by Cameron Moy

With weekend three officially in the books, your MSkiers had another fun weekend of nature walks, dice games, and skiing too. We were a small but mighty team this weekend with the semester picking up, but the onesie and wig game was nevertheless strong.

Per usual, the team dominated on the hill taking down archrivals Michigan State and Ohio State as well as GVSU and Central Michigan in boys and girls slalom and GS. On Saturday, the girls had a strong slalom showing, Tori Pratt, Annabel Geissbuhler, and Hannah Schramski claiming the second, third, and fourth positions respectively. Not to be outdone, the boys blew past the competition, as well, with Drew Thomas taking first, Dylan Roussel second, and Alex Netzley fourth. Last and most certainly least, our beloved snowboarder Lauren Fisher took fourth in her GS race. Well deserved, much of the team returned to the condo for some power naps, cuddle sessions, and Walking Tacos generously donated by the Kalajian Family. “Deep talks,” Yik Yakking, and recorder music filling the silence late into the night, the team enjoyed a delicious pasta dinner with cheesy bread donated by the Hartle family and finished off the evening with some piping hot pizza rolls provided by the Smith Family (shoutout to the one and only Garett who took and fulfilled everyone’s snack requests).

The team thrilled for day two after a good night sleep, Cristina started off our day strong with a yard-sale penguin slide down the hill. All jokes aside, the Michigan ski team clearly owns Crystal Mountain. The boys swept the podium with Alex Netzley, Dylan Roussel, and Leo Lavigne taking the top spots. For the girls, Tori Pratt held her second position followed by Hannah Schramski in third and Ashley Binette in fourth. Most of the team was anxious to head back to Ann Arbor, so after a quick slip we packed up the cars and hit the roads.

Final weekend three takeaways: Michigan skiing > Michigan Men’s Basketball, MSki people are literally the best people on this planet, THE SENIORS ONLY HAVE ONE SKI WEEKEND LEFT :(!! That being said, we can’t wait to have all our amazing parents next weekend (rumor has it there might be some fancy outfits in store) for our final regular season meet of the year. A huge thank you to all the families who have and are planning to donate to the team, your support means more than you know! All for now, Go Blue!
